Lindsay's First "Mission"

Lindsay's first mission with the OGF&DC was last Wednesday, March 22. The event was the USO's Annual Ball (a $1000 per plate dinner). From all accounts, Lindsay did a great job. Here are a few shots from the event. Thanks to Don for sending the photos!

Back from DC

Mission Accomplished! We managed to get Lindsay a car while we were down there. She is obviously happy with her new 2006 Saturn Ion. We had just finished breakfast at B&E's (Bob & Edith's) and were preparing to begin the journey home. Funny thing... the dealership where we got the car was called Lindsay Saturn of Alexandria!

Was really nice to see her. Likely will be a few more months before we get to see her again.

Lindsay and Kara practicing Friday morning in the fife room at the FDC building. This room is SOOOOO quiet. I wish I had all that soundproofing in my HOUSE!

This is something you won't see everyday. The Old Guard Fife & Drum Corps in BDU's (military camo). They were practicing for the Alexandria Parade. Many of them had just come back from a "change of command" ceremony in which the "uniform of the day" was BDU's. So rather than have everyone mess around with changing, they decided to march/practice in them. I was told that this doesn't happen very often. I thought it was awesome. Just another reminder that the OGFDC is, indeed, comprised of soldiers in the US Army. Hooah!

Another shot in BDU's. This one of Drum Major "Dukes" saluting as they go by. Btw, Sgt. Dukes was the drum major at Ft. Ticonderoga last summer, for those PFDC folks that were at the event. Also, one of our favorite Old Guard fifers, Lonnie (second from left in the front row) will be retiring this summer. Lonnie has been a tremendous inspiration and help to the PFDC over the years, and while we'll be happy for him, we will be sad to see him go.
